Ghoulish Best Practices

Here at FSC, we start planning our Halloween costumes in June. Like many Americans, we spend months planning the perfect costume, buying the right candy to delight Trick-or-Treaters and planning the perfect Halloween bash.

After many of our Halloween discussions we got to thinking, maybe Halloween has taught us something about marketing…

2011 Halloween Takeaways:

  • Always be over-prepared – no one wants to be the house that runs out of candy by 8:30.

What it means to marketers: Make sure your team is prepared to deliver what was promised to your client.

  • Details Matter – don’t create a costume “half-way” unless you are prepared to answer the forever annoying question, “Wait, what are you?”

What it means to marketers: You can’t let the little things slip through the cracks. Spell check. Re-read your work. Double check the pictures. This will pay off every time.

  • Give more than expected – why hand out a mini snickers when you can pass out a king size? It’s a sure fire way to become the number one house on the neighborhood candy watch-list.

What it means to marketers: Always over deliver to your clients – this will establish trust and loyalty.

  • Be passionate – get into character. Don’t just act like a mime – BE A MIME.

What it means to marketers: Don’t just complete projects for your clients – be proactive and help your clients. Learn the industry, read the journals, get into it!

PITTSBURGH, PA. Sept. 28, 2011 — FSC Marketing + Digital recently welcomed Jessica Buehner as part of the Marketing Services team as an Account Executive.

As a 2011 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Buehner attained a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. In the past, she has held previous positions at Mullen as part of the Digital team and Accessible Recovery Services where she developed social media and entrepreneurial strategies to support business redevelopment and expansion.

Buehner contributes to numerous client accounts, including the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown, Port Authority of Allegheny County, Mount Washington Community Development Center, National Church Solutions and ORA Orthopedics.

“I was grateful to have the opportunity to join the FSC team after graduation as an Account Associate. It’s definitely a place where I have been able to utilize and continue to develop the skills I’ve learned. I’m excited to continue to work with the team on new and existing accounts,” Buehner explained.

In addition to her work in the office, Buehner is an active volunteer with several non-profits including Riding for the Handicapped of Western Pennsylvania and Animal Friends. Outside of work, she enjoys spending her time horseback riding and cheering for her favorite hometown sports teams.

PITTSBURGH, PA. September 22, 2011 — FSC Marketing + Digital has announced the promotion of Jenny Williams to Account Manager.

Williams’ promotion recognizes a successful performance as an Account Executive. She has been with FSC since January of 2011, when she joined the agency as an Account Associate.

In her new position, Williams will continue serve as a team leader on the West Virginia based National Church Solutions and Michigan based PREZIO Health accounts. Additionally, she will play a greater role in new business development for the agency.

FSC Marketing + Digital, a full-service advertising, digital and public relations firm based in Downtown Pittsburgh, is pleased to announce a new client relationship with the Mount Washington Community Development Corporation (MWCDC). The Pittsburgh based non-profit serves as a community development corporation for the Mount Washington and Duquesne Heights areas. FSC’s expertise in destination marketing will be leveraged in the rebranding effort – with a focus on new messaging, a new look for the MWCDC and expanding the group’s website and social media presence.
